advancecd problem (newbie alert...)
« on: February 21, 2007, 04:23:16 pm »
hi all,
sorry for bothering you with probably newbie problems, but I'm suffering already over two days on this silly problem, and my GF doesn't like my bad mood anymore  ;)
i have a very weird problem.  a fiew days ago i downloaded advancecd to my winXP portable, i added some roms and made an iso that i burned on CD.
when i use that CD in my office computer, it runs regular, when i put it in an old PC i want to use as 'engine' for a cabinet, it stops directly after the boot-CD is detected by the system. the errormessage is "error loading orerating system".
i already tried to create an bootable HDD (using makepart) but it gives the same error.
does anybody has an idea?

PS I'm using advancecd because it's a very old PC and running a windows will only slow it down. DOS is also not really an option (i think) because the lack of good sound-carddrivers)

thanks in advance

Did you make your CD/optical drive the primary boot device in bios setup?

yes i did. that's the strange part. if i take a regular knoppix-CD, it boots normally from CD. it's the specific combination advancecd and that machine that gives that error
