Connecting CRT computer monitor to JAMMA board
« on: February 19, 2007, 10:27:53 pm »
Does anyone know what is involved in connecting a CRT computer monitor to a JAMMA board?

Is is just a matter of connecting the red, green, blue, V sync, ground along with power to the monitor?

Or is there more to worry about?

VGA female connector Pinout:

1       Red out *
2       Green out *
3       Blue out *
4       Monitor ID 2 in
5       Ground
6       Red return
7       Green return
8       Blue return
9       no pin
10      Sync return
11      Monitor ID 0 in
12      Monitor ID 1 in
13      Horizonal Sync out
14      Vertical Sync out
15      reserved (monitor ID 3)

If this has been discussed a billion times, please direct me to an old one and my apologies for this post.

98% of the JAMMA boards out there generate standard CGA resolution video not VGA. There are some that generate EGA (medium) resolution like Cruisin USA.

Here's a link to specific makes/models that can be used:

I have an arcade monitor with a vga connection connected to my Jamma boards.

I had to get a little pcb that would convert the signal, you can find them on ebay and from some dealers.  They can be a bit pricey.
