another Mame knock-off, but still proud! fixed pics
« on: February 13, 2007, 11:50:41 pm »
I started about a month ago and here is my progress to date.Arcade Paradise 3 knockoff!! P3 600 EB win98SE 512 Meg Ram. Mame 061 and still undetermined on the FE but I like  and have working Mamewah and MaLa. Could not yet get Gamex working. Atomic FE although easiest so far to setup has not caught my fancy. I got my controls from ultimarc. 27" TV S-video and decased 3 piece speaker system. grafted a 12 volt relay into power strip for 1 switch turn on. Man these guys on these pages have thought of everything. I uploaded these to my car page.  Hope they work. i finally figured out how to upload images. As one of my instructors use to say "Sometimes insight may be a slow or lenghty process."

Congratulations on a good start.  Smart that you have the control panel well underway.  I've saved that for last on my project and am wishing I'd gotten a better start on it sooner...  :-[

Looks really nice so far. The buttons on your CP look quite far apart. Is that going to be comfortable?
Charlie Brown: I'm still hoping that yesterday will get better.

Thanks all. I have the pics now posted on my correct website. I had and old Tripod link and forgot that my most current site has a different address. I think th buttons feel good. They are 2" on center. Was gonna hack a flight stick tonite but for got mine has internal USB interface so I will pick up a different one.

my website is http://akmd1.tripod.com/arcade.htm the link to the arcaded page is at the bottom.

I kinda like the spacing on the buttons. Course I'm a fat fingered ape.

Looking great on the progress govee!! Congrats.  :applaud:

Are you planning to recess the trackball plate?  I think if you are planning on adding a nice CPO it is a must.  Everything looks really good so far - I'm the total opposite regarding button spacing though - I leave 1/8" between button bezels which puts them like 1-3/8" on center or something close to that.

Keep the pics coming!

Looking good.

Whats the hole in the top right of your CP? Is that for a spinner?

Also, have you used those sticks yet? They look like Magstik+ to me. Do you plan on playing fighters? If you do plan on playing fighters - you'll want to check those sticks out. The short throw made doing any of the special moves near impossible. I'm using supers now and they feel about perfect for street fighter.

Javeryh- Yes I am recessing it. As a mater of fact I did it last night. Could find my straight cutting bit for a while, was driving me crazy. I like the spacing now but I will get a better feel later. I am not gonna do a CPO overlay for a while so If I don't like the layout It can be redone.

Leapinlew- yup you guesed it Magstik+. I am not a big fighter guy but my son is so I guess he will have to tell me. He usually kicks my butt at them cause I cant make them do the special moves. The big hole is for a flight stick.
