Color issues
« on: February 13, 2007, 02:31:16 am »
I have this used Dell Trinitron tube (it's a P1130) CRT flat screen monitor.  The picture is sharp, and the colors look okay, except for blue. Blue looks more violet. And purple is a kinda dark violet.  I messed with all the OSD controls, as well as my graphics card controls. I downloaded the driver and did it again. Still looks off. Anyone know what this might be and if there's a fix for it?

usually you find you can adjust individual colors,in this case i believe your red is too high-this should be available in osd menu otherwise there may be an advanced menu with this option(sometimes you can access this by holding the osd switch on whilst powering up on certain models),also worth checking the color options(user etc) or your card setup options

I'm just not used to that much effort to tune. Often, the brightness will be turned up too high for my taste, but the color's alright. I had gone through quite a bit of the OSD options, but went back through it a couple more times, yesterday and today, and finally with the expert settings (RGB), I got it to look very close to normal - which strangely are RED 100, GREEN 53, BLUE 45. (On top of that, the CONTRAST is 100, and the BRIGHTNESS is only 11.) Incidentally, these have like a sun picture next to them. There's also another set of RGB that has like a half-moon picture next to them.  I don't know what those do.

I think the monitor was in an office setting before I got it, so some of the color control may be a little shot I was thinking, and wondered if anything I said might tell somebody here something in particular, because I can still return it/have it repaired by the seller. I'll try that OSD-power-up, too. Thanks.
