MAME and Midas support
« on: February 10, 2007, 12:07:17 am »
What was the last version of MAME to support Midas sound?  Seems to run better using Midas than Directsound. . .

Also, can Midas be accessed on any command line version of MAME using the command -midas?

The reason I'm asking these things is this:

I have a P2 450 running MAME32 .65 with Midas sound as the default, and all games run smoothly with good sound.  Spy Hunter run smoothly and just fine, for example.  When I switch the default sound to Directsound, it's choppy.

I also have a P4 1.3ghz running MAME32 1.05 and several of the games have choppy sound - Spy Hunter is a again my example game.  No option to choose Midas on this more recent verison of MAME, tho.

WHY in the world is a more "modern" version of MAME on a more "modern" box running so poorly?

This sux.   :-\
