Where to get an Xbox cheap.

Anyone know where to get an Xbox cheap? I hear of people getting Xbox's for like $30. I can't seem to do that. I have one but I want another for the bedroom. I just missed out on one on craigslist for $15. CRAP! I got outbid on one on ebay that I could have picked up for $36. So where do I find the cheap ones???

Sorry, this was just more of a rant. I hate to be so close to a great deal and then miss out.

Yea, getting one cheap is really a matter of "right place at the right time."

I paid like $80 bucks for one of my xboxs, so did a friend of mine.  Then there's this other guy I know who got one off freecycle for nothing.  All it needed was a new fan! 

You just need to keep your eyes open for the deals and when they come don't hesitate...  XBOX repair is not very complex.

do you have any friends who break things when they suck at video games?  thats how a friend got a brand new xbox (with a modchip) for free after this artard threw his controller at the xbox and broke it.  i think it needed a wire reattched or something simple.

That's what I am hoping for. I hear about it a lot. People thinking that their xbox is broken so they sell it REAL cheap or give it away.

I guess it would help if I had friends. Then maybe I could hear about something like that and get lucky.

call your local pawnshop's most sell broken for $20-$30 and most the time's they only need a laser cleaning or a psu swap or even a chip install.

also try xbox-scene.com there is hundreds for sale there for less then ebay and most are already modded.

That's probably a good thing.  Check cashing establishments are also a bad sign.

We don't have many of those either.  It's not an indicator of economic health, it's a result of MA blue laws and the basic Puritan nature of our state.  There are very few of a lot of things here.

Not that anyone cares but I got an xbox today for $50 from craigslist. The only problem is I think the hard drive is dying or at least is corrupt. I was deleting the gamesaves and when I got to the bottom ones, it started to get really slow and then hang. Even when I pressed the power button it took a few seconds to shut off. When I was in the other settings or anything else that doesn't use the hard drive, it seemed fine. So....anyway...

That is the plan. I just am not sure what chip to get this time. I have an xbox with an X3 that is awesome but I don't want to spend that much on this one because it is only going to be used for xbmc in the bedroom. But I don't want to go to cheap so I am thinking of getting the X2.6CE. It looks like a good chip and is only $30 instead of $50-60. Anyone else have a suggestion? How are the Duo X v2 Lite's? I would like that price better.

I have been trying to read up on that but I don't have any of those games so...I am also thinking of hot swapping and using the font exploit. I would rather do a softmod but... Maybe I will check out blockbuster to see if they have those games.

I still don't think those are worth it. You can get a crystal like case or one of several different colors now. It isn't the same but so what. It is a lot cheaper.

Are you going to mod it? I am guessing you are liking XBMC. It is the killer app for xbox IMO.

Personally, I don't like the look of the transparent ones. But the bottle green ones look awesome. Unfortunately, they're difficult to get hold of and the third party cases I've seen don't look as good.

I know how you feel. There's one in Hudson. I went in a month or two ago prowling for gaming stuff and vinyl LPs. Most of what he has is (power) tools and an occasional guitar or clarinet or something like that. He had a single PS2 for like $80 and no other gaming stuff.
