MAMEWAH Setup to get working
« on: January 14, 2007, 10:13:40 am »
Hey, everybody. I'm not sure why something like this isn't a sticky by now, so I thought I'd ask while I'm trying to make it work.

I have MAMEWAH, I made a custom layout, I have everything installed, and MAMEWAH runs. Here's the deal: my layout doesn't show up and still uses the default images for the logos. None of my games are being detected at all. I've changed the INI files already to what they need to be (ie. directory names).

How in the world do I get this to work? I've read the docs and I do what it says, but to no avail. I've seen other people's awesome custom MAMEWAH setups, so apparently it works really well. Any help would definitely be appreciated.

It sounds like your layout isn't properly configured - probably either file naming or placement is to blame.  You don't say what version of Mamewah you're using, but for the latest beta take a look in \mamewah\config for the default layout (overwrite this is the easiest way to change the default layout).

Again, can't be sure what to advise without knowing versions.  If you are using Mame v0.107+ with Mamewah v1.61, upgrade Mamewah to the latest beta (v1.62b12).  This is a common problem since Mame stopped supplying xml2info.exe.

Posting your ini file might also help...

I'm using the 1.61 version. I guess I'll get the beta version and see if that works. I'm also using MAME .111.

What .ini file should I attach that you can look at?
