TV Hookup Question
« on: January 08, 2007, 04:04:27 pm »
If I hook up a SONY standard resolution tv that has component inputs via a VGA to component video converter I already own...will I get a similar QUALITY picture as a direct to RGB arcade monitor or is it more of the issue of the connection not supporting TRUE low-resolutions so couldn't get true pixel-to-pixel output via the connection?

Now you've made me interested... I'd like to know as well.
Might be a nice option for me instead of an expensive and hard to get arcade monitor.
At the moment I have my pc hooked on my tv trough an nvidia card with s-vhs for viewing japanese animation on my tv, but the quality could be better I guess.
Are you talking about this type of device? http://sewelldirect.com/manhattan-pc-to-tv-converter.asp
I didn't knew it existed... I'll look in to it some more later. :)

I have this device:

http://www.digitalconnection.com/products/video/9a60.asp

It has worked kickass for a couple years for my HTPC.   You plug your VGA computer cable in to one end and the other end has component video out.

On my older analog 65" Toshiba big screen the video was pretty damn spanky...not perfect...but good.

On my newer digital 62" Toshiba DTV,  the video is friggin CRYSTAL CLEAR.

I have an old 36" Sony that isn't HD...but it has component inputs.   I was considering making a BIG ASS 4 player cabinet (think absurly sized cabinet that LOOKS like an 80's cabinet,  but with a 36" screen and 4 player CP...sounds fun?

I have a Sony KV-32HV600 32" 4:3 CRT HDTV. i connected my PC to it using the keydigital KD-VTCA3 VGA to component transcoder. Mame games looks arcade perfect without using scanlines and other effects. I'm very happy. now, is there anybody running advancemame off of this set?
