I never thought I'd be asking this question or caring about the answer - but does anyone have any games in locations and is it worth the hassle.  I have the opportunity to pick up a couple of quick fixes in the next few weeks, but I don't really care for the games.  My buddy has 2 barber shops and I was thinking about putting them in there.  Obviously niether one of us will get rich off of it, but I figure I could use the cash to offset other purchases.  I realize in this day and age it's not a money maker, but I figure I could probably make 20-30 a month per game.

You better first look at state, county, and local (city) license requirements before doing anything. You could get bogged down in license fees. Don't forget insurance in case someone gets hurt playing your machines or one of the machines gets stolen/broken into.

I researched the fees online briefly today.  One city charges $25/game  a year and the other city charges $100.  I don't think I'd worry about insurance if it was stolen.  Liability insurance is something that never crossed my mind

Here in Washington state the state gets sales tax and B&O taxes on what's in the game cashbox too. So be sure to check state requirements.

If you put games into your own business, do you still have to pay these fee's? I would sooo love to break this news to my brother-in-law. >:D

I'm no lawyer, but I'd say yes.

You could also put them in locations, slap a for sale sign on them and then claim they were just for sale, rather than on location for revenue. (hehe)

Can you charge money to play a game that is "for sale", though?

Maybe, I remember hearing about this "rule" from a guy at work a long time ago. I wouldn't risk it personally.
