Ok, I'm pushing 40...I'm a grown up....I can take it, I thought and headed out for a screening of "Black Christmas."

First off, the price of admission sent me to sticker shock - it's now $7.25 for an adult to see a MATINEE.

Secondly, this movie is just trash.  Has no, and I mean NO redeeming value to it.  I found myself rooting for the killer to hurry up and off the sorority chicks so I could go home and they could be put out of their misery.  Then there's the sex scene with the mom and 13 year old son, which, while basically implied (not shown), is enough to make one seriously toss one's cookies (she keeps the kid locked up in the attic after killing his biological father).

Who at MGM thought a remake of this was a GOOD idea? Do they still have a job?  I don't see how.  There were maybe 4 people in the theater to watch it with me.  I left a half hour in...and no one was having a good time being scared at this one, I am sure of it.

MYX, are you sure that's not the after 5 PM price? I am in GA too, which is why I'm asking, and it was an AMC theater I attended.  This was for a 1:30 PM showing.

BTW, I kind of figure I only lost $3.75 - I did manage to sit through half of that mess.   

Loki, you too are right - nobody does horror well anymore, with the exception of a few movies.  The remake of The Ring, all psych horror and very few visuals, is still one of the best I've seen recently - that and "The Descent" (which I loved).

I used to have a buddy who managed a theater.  While getting your money back for a choice YOU made would be difficult, he often gave people a coupon for free admission to the movie of their choice on their next visit.  Doesn't really cost them anything, and hopefully they stick you on concessions twice, so.....

I guess I'm just too honest hypernova...I agree with Drew's statement.  It was my choice to go see the turkey; why should I get my money back!  Call it a lesson learned and move on (and dear god, was it EVER a lesson learned).

That little voice in my head kept saying "Stay away...it's not worth it," and once again, I didn't listen (mercifully I listen more than I ignore it, but I'm not too bright in that area when it comes to movies).

Being that I am a cheap bastard,  I have never walked out on a movie...

...which means I have seen some REALLY...REALLY...REALLY bad movies in my time.  Wild Wild West with Will Smith comes to mind.   By far,  one of the WORST movies every made.  Anytime the ---smurfin---' THEME MUSIC is better than the movie,  you know you are in trouble.

When I look at Will Smith, I don't see an African-American.  I see a generally good actor who I find to be funny at times.  Pretty sad commentary that some people can't see past skin color in the 21st century.

Would it make a difference if they picked someone who was Jewish or a Muslim in a remake of a role that a Christian actor played at some point?  Or male vs. female such as Starbuck now being played by a woman instead of a man?  I must have missed your post where you stated how upset you were that Colonel Tighe was being played by a Caucasian instead of an African-American.

agreed. wild west was such a silly movie, it wouldnt make more 'sense' to have a white lead. my vote for last years worst movie -Borat. im really over that sort of humour...

is that mercan dollars? thats pricey! i think normally its about $12.50 australian full price here. there is a big cinema nearby that got smart. they charge only $7.90 (was only about $6.80 a year ago). they realised its better to steal business from others at slashed prices since the only extra cost to them whether there is 10 people in the cinema or 100 is a bit more airconditioning. ive been to quite a few sessions where an usher has had to get everyone to stand up and move towards the centre because the show was sold out!

of course if everone starts charging that low then they will all start to lose money again...

We've have a 17-screen Cinemark theater near my house in the Dallas suburbs that's a little past its prime (AKA no stadium seating). I can watch a regular price movie for $4.75 or a matine for $2.75. I go there to watch the movies I don't expect will be any good.

If I expect I'll want to really be comfortable or it's going to be a great movie where I want DLP or something, I'll go to the new Cinemark 10 minutes down the road and pay something on the order of $8.50.

Hey wad...stop playing the race card schmuck.   And for your information,  I don't watch Battlestar Galactica...not since the late 70's anyway.   And I imagine that some folks just may be a little put off if Jesus was portrayed by a Muslim or if Martin Luther King was protrayed by a red headed Irishman.   My post had absolutely NO racial overtones yet you read between the lines.   Race baiters like you piss me off.   Pick on someone who deserves it Rev. I tried to watch Lady in the Water the other night. I went to sleep about 1/2 an hour into it. Wow it was friggin horrible. The wife watched it and gave me the rundown. I am very glad I went to sleep.

The village sucked too IMO. I guessed the whole plot like 20 minutes into it. My wife said I was full of it, so I wrote it all down and let her read it after the movie was done. Needless to say, I won the bet.

Sixth Sense was great, Signs was acceptible, the rest of his movies suck big time.

No racial overtones?  Let's see.... the word cracker is a racial slur and you commented that an African-American played a role that was originally played by someone of a different color.  How is that NOT about race?

Those that view others based upon race ARE bigots whether or not they can admit it (or are intelligent enough to know it).

And I would imagine at some point that someone played Jesus that was Jewish, an atheist, or agnostic.  Only bigots point to that versus commenting on how he played it.

If you get through Lady in the Water, you can see that M Knight Shamalamadingdong is nuts.  He's so full of himself.  There is this big story that the studios tried to reign the film in but he thought it was the greatest thing ever and wouldn't change a thing.

I watched it for Paul Giamati thinking it would have some redeeming quality.  Howard Stern asks actors if they know that a particular movie they are filming sucks while they are filming it.  Most of them say no because the movies are shot out of sequence and they are giving it there all as an actor.  Then to go see the mess in theater, must be a real shock.

I think the worst made movie I had ever seen was this hack n' slash I rented years ago called "LUNCH MEAT".  I swear to god...it had a total cast of 5 people + the bad guy.   It looked like someone took 6 of his buddies up to the mountains with a store maniquin(sp?) and some ketchup.

One memorable scene you see the "bad dude"...a big ass sword flying through the air then a cut to a dummies head with ketchup splattered on it flying through the air only to cut to what looked like a straw-stuffed sack with close on it sans head....of course with ketchup splattered everywhere.

It was so god awful it was HILARIOUS.

Since we are on the subject of gore-fest movies, has anyone else seen Peter Jackson's Dead/Alive? That movie is widely considered the goriest movie ever made...not to mention funny and seriously over the top.

The 80's "Maniac" ...also a horrible movie... did have one of the most amazing "head shot" brain explosions on film!   Recommended if only for this intense scene...

Same thing happened here there is a small cinema with only 4 screens and have been a budget movie place even tho its as good as a village cinema just not as big

they got shut down years ago and only recently got remade again as a budget cinema altho i guess thats not ther right word for it there seats are as comfy as village they are wider and have drink holders and its kept clean just no outside area to wait for movies for alot of people really but cause they are smaller its quicker to clean than a village cinema.

My wife had never seen Young Einstein or Reckless Kelly. I remember liking them so I thought that perhaps the new (at the time) Yahoo Serious movie would be good too. We shut it off after about 20 minutes. I still get ribbed about that movie.

The worst movie of all time is Atomic Train.  Its horribly done, has about 15 plots, and is extremely long.  It causes physical pain if you try to watch the whole thing.

Another really bad on is Tunnel.  Some of the highlights include "C4 is an impact explosive" and they procede detonating the C4 by shooting it.  The main bad guy dies in the end by randomly being electrocuted.  We came up with a few theories as to why we died like he did, I think he was actually a robot that short circuited, some of my friends think the spirit of Atomic Train ran him over because the movie was on its way to be worse then it and Atomic Train had to stop that from happening.

Back in college me and my friends used to love watching really bad movies and making fun of them.  I have quite a few movies from the $5 bin at Blockbuster.
