Getting a new arcade monitor in Europe ?
« on: December 30, 2006, 03:12:01 am »
Has anybody in Europe bought a NEW arcade monitor localy ?

The only source I can think of is Suzo but they don't seem to carry a "real" general arcade monitor, just monitors for various "fruit"machines (with CRTs obviously.

Any others ??

I've been also looking for it but can't find a thing... maybe there are some shops that repair arcades (if there are any?) here in the Netherlands that can sell one?
Maybe somewhere close to the border in Germany or Belgium?
Other then that I really have no idea... have you tried mailing or calling Suzo?

I can buy at Suzo, didn't phone them yet. Since the merger with Happcontrols they told me that "theoraticaly" they now can deliver anything that Happ carries. My experience is that the things they already included in the Suzo catalogue are very expensive. Getting Happ parts via Ponyboy is a lot cheaper. However, sending an individual monitor across the Atlantic may be a bit risky and even more: Expensive.

This may be a point where Suzo could be the better choice. I can't imagine that they do not carry any CGA monitors, even if they're not from Happ.

I have to go to Suzo anyway, will try jan 2 and ask them about it and let you know.

what exactly do you want monitor wise?
you can buy direct from pentranic and hantarex in the u.k and the shipping should be reasonable, suzo can get anything you want in theory and yes they are expensive but also they are very reliable

Well, I bought a Galaxian recently and the monitor has convergence problems. I'll try to fix it, already ordered a cap-kit for it and I hope to be able to get the convergence right after that. However, if this all fails I'd like to get a new 19" CRT monitor. I know there are several places in the US selling for very reasonable prices (around $170), but shipping here could be expensive/difficult.

after you have done the cap kit if you still have colour convergence problems look towards setting up the yoke

Yeah, well the K4500 has a really big PCB around the neck with lots of ports and coils for convergence. I've tried fiddling with it today, but things don't really improve. I'll do the re-cap first and then look into the convergence problem further. I hope that I can get my uncle to help, he's a very experienced TV repair man, and has worked with TV's from that period lots of times...

Hi André from Holland  ;)

I'am looking for a Monitor in Germany as you know. Here in Germany is a company called "MEDI-GmbH", they sell Hantarex-Monitors. Look here:
