Console Emulation Recommendations
« on: December 29, 2006, 05:29:12 pm »
I would like to put together an emulation setup for the living room and need some help deciding on the direction to take. Here are the requirements:

* Needs to work off of a console (XBox, PS2, PS3 or Gamecube)
* Needs to be drop-dead simple to operate (my 7 year old daughter needs to be able to boot it and play without any help)
* Needs to support multiple systems: arcade (MAME), NES, Atari 2600, SNES, TG16 preferably
* I'm leaning towards a Slik-stik Solitaire unit for controls
* Menus and interfaces should be at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate

None of my consoles are modded, so I'll need to have that done as well.

Lastly, I don't have the interest to learn everything about this, so if anyone is interested in building something for me to accomplish this, please let me know what you'd charge to do so (in terms of both modding the console, and putting the software together).

Modded Xbox, without question.

You can load directly into a dashboard with big bright icons for each system.  Anyone can run it and it is a wonderful system to use for emulation.  All files can go on the hard drive as well, so there is really no need to ever use a disc.

Actually, if you go that route, I have an extra modded Xbox I've used in the past as a streaming media box.  I'd be willing to part with it if you needed a complete system.  If not, the mod is super simple, I'm sure you can do it yourself.  You can grab a modchip for under $20 and be on your way.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

yeah xbox no doubt. emulation is great. pretty much everything runs perfect and highly configurable. you can get a slikstik and get the xbox adaptor for the ipac and you are good to good. I have a spare modded I dont really use. I can update it with lateast everything and maybe add bigger hard drive too. right now I have an 80 and a 160 gig in stock. PM me if you are interested thanks

I can also mod your other consoles.
