Under Defeat for DC
« on: December 21, 2006, 04:43:36 pm »
Under Defeat is by far the best game for the DC I cant get over how good this game looks it can compete w/ the PS2 and Xbox  its too bad that Sega had to pull the plug on this  great console anyways the reason for this topic is I was wondering if there is any other imports that are as good as Under Defeat?
I know there is no way to get any better but is there any out there as close for Shooters?
Thanks for your time and for anyone that has'ent played this game GET IT :applaud:

Yeah ive been wanting to get under defeat for a long time now but im actually afraid incase i dont like it.          So many shooters are way over priced and crap so if your starting a collection beware.    I think dodonapachi is maybe the best for the hand eye coordination.

I agree that Under Defeat is an awesome game.  On my VGA monitor it looks better than anything I play on the PS2 or XBOX.

It's been my favorite Dreamcast game for the last several months. Slows down a tad during the big explosions because the graphics are so awesome. I'm not a huge shmup fan, but this one is really addicting for some reason.

Also check out Psyvariar 2 and Ikaruga which are both beautiful too.

I bumped into this page that covers a mess of DC shooters.

If you're Dreamcast is one of the earlier generations you can play "backups" with no modification whatsoever and the game can be found on the net without too much trouble...

Of course, you should buy the game if you indeed like it. :police:
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Why is it that people on these boards are always trying to start fights over what is morally right to pirate and what is not?

 :lame:

Of all the consoles I've bought over the years I have bought more Dreamcast games than any other, yet that console "failed" and XBOX and PS2 live on through the pirating.  The "scene" had absolutely nothing to do with Dreamcast not being as big as some think it should have been.

I have quite a few burned DC games... but I made 98% of them from originals I own.  One or two are games I wanted to try out but decided not to buy because I didn't like them and just never got around to throwing the disc out.

I second Psyvariar 2.
Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.

I like Under Defeat so much I have it in a Windy Cab and havent popped in any other games in that cab for the last 6 - 8 months.

There are still new DC games coming from NAOMI ports.

There are a ton of great shmups on the DC. Depending on the gameplay you like though you may or may not like other DC shmups.

Psyvariar, Shikigami No Shiro II, Border Down, Ikaruga, Radirgy, GigaWing, Mars Matrix..... etc.. There are a ton of great DC shmups. The system is far from dead as long as people continue to buy the new releases.

DC hardware is based on NAOMI arcade hardware and it is still very much mainstream in arcades everywhere who really knows what other new releases will become available.
