EGA to CGA conversion help.
« on: December 18, 2006, 03:43:17 am »
Currently I have a Wells Gardner 25k7501 EGA Monitor in my cab.  I would Like to play some of my CGA  arcade boards (Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, X-Men vs. Street Fighter) through this monitor and was wondering if anyone knows any simple ways of doing so?  I'm fairly new to this and don't really have the background knowledge to do any major work but maybe there is a simple converter i could buy, or maybe I'm just S.O.L.

Anyways, anyones comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks

This is a medium res monitor, so no, you can't play standard res games on it.

I realize that my Monitor is EGA (Medium) res and that my CGA (Standard) res games won't play on that resolution monitor.  What I was wondering is if the is any way to convert my EGA monitor to run in CGA resolution.  For example, I know there are VGA to CGA conversion pcbs you can buy, look on ebay if you don't believe me, and was wondering if there is anything similar for EGA to CGA conversion that anyone is aware of.

Thanks again for your help.

Personally, you're SOL
WTB: The Grid by Midway (2001), looking for 2 or more complete games, and large marquee

There isn't a huge demand for EGA to CGA converters so I would be surprised if you found one available.

How many medium res games are there out there?

Quite a few.  Don't have a number handy, but most of what I work on in the shop is medium res.
