Stephen's first Mame Cabinet. Vs the Goonies NOW COMPLETED
« on: November 06, 2006, 08:10:11 pm »
I wanted to create a second thread since the one Timoe created featured mostly the control panel he built for me.  This will show it, as well as my first mame cabinet, with a Goonies Theme.

Since alot of the images have already been displayed in the first thread, I will only display new things, and stuff that is towards the end.  I will provide a link to my photobucket so you can see how the process progressed.

All of the images can be found here:

First my side art is taken from the Goonies movie poster and edited.  The side will stretch aprox. 27 inches wide and 39 inches long down the side of my cabinet.  Here is a smaller version, I am waiting for the work to arrive in the mail.  Brandon, or as he is known here SlammedNiss was the person who printed the artwork for me.  It should arrive shorterly.

THe themes for gameex that I will be using are being worked on by Katuuuz and Amos fromt he gameex forums, they gracious did both these great themes for me:

Here is Amos's:

Here is Katuuuz's:

Here is the controller than Tim has built for me, I think its incredible.

Here are some links of the cabinet pretty much done minus the bezel and the sideart:

For earlier pictures please look at the link posted above.   I would love feed back, but remember this is my first cab :)

Hey, its me from over at GameEx.  Cab is looking great!  Amos really did nice work on that theme.  Katuuz's is looking good too.  Just wanted to give you a reply, seeing as how nobody else is being kind enough too.  :)

I saw your intro video.  Thats freagin rad.  I need something like that.  Thats the last thing I'm looking for (right now) for my cab.

I gotta say, I love the Goonies movie and game, its seems weird, to me, for a cabinet theme but very original.  kudos to you

THanks Tim :)  Anyway I just got the cp in my hands tonight.  My dad brought it by the school and I was showing it off in class lol.  I plan to put it on probably friday as I have off work that day.  I am going to have to cut the velcro and measure it but it should snap right on.

Thanks for the comment han :)

The panel is installed and working 100 percent.  This is actually the first time I have ever used a trackball in an arcade game lol, and its so much fun :) I am very happy with how everything turned out.  I will take some pictures when my wife gets home with the camera.

And here are final pictures of the completed progress.  I am pretty satisfied with my first cabinet.  I think it turned out well for a first attempt with someone that knew nothing about building.  I know its not as great as some peoples here but I'm proud of it.  I will be redoing the bezel and doing some touch up painting but its done pretty much.  Thanks alot to everyone here for all the wonderful information they provided.

Nice, but the Street Fighter control panel clashes with the Goonies theme going on everywhere else. I would put a new overlay on the panel to match.

Or, did you mean Street Fighter vs. the Goonies?

Now that would be a funny game to play...

yeah I know.  My intentions are for my second cabinet to be a street fighter and I will place the xarcade back on this one.  I just wanted a nice controller while it was available for this cabinet.
