PC and PSX to arcade monitor
« on: December 09, 2006, 10:40:44 pm »
Hello, For my 2nd cab I would like to use a 27" arcade monitor. thinking maybe the Billabs one that was revieved by retrocade or something simalar and an arcadeVGA card, I would also like to connect my PS2 console to it also.

What is the best way to switch between PC and PS2?

will the PS2 even display properly on a monitor of this type?

If I had some kind of adapter on the PS2 can I just use a KVM switch?

Thanks in advance

Slug

What about adding a card with av inputs like a TV Wonder card and just running the PS1 through the computer?

thx for the reply.
I would if  I thought I could do it seemlessly and that there would be no lag. I heard running through a capture card creates a nasty delay and ruins the game.

plus wouldn't you have to fire up some capture software and change to the input the PS2 is on and then I think it would be too windowsy for my cab.

I'm hoping someone here could let me know if there is some kind of KVM switch or box that would work or weather using a capture card messes up the game timing.

There are many schematics around to make a sync seperator using the LM1881 chip, including on here, search lm1881 on the forums and read the links.

After seperation then a kvm will be fine. You can pick up an old mechanical one for hardly anything since they are useless at anything over 800x600 when used on pcs since they ghost so much.
