I have a GPWiz49, which is basically a USB gamepad encoder that also has the ability to connect a 49-way joystick.
Beyond the 49-way portion, the rest of the unit has 23 additional inputs which just work as a gamepad. By hooking up buttons and a normal 'digital' joystick to these inputs, I got everything working fine.
Except, for some reason, I can't go "up" in the Mala gamelist using the joystick. "Up" corresponds to gamepad button "12". I know that it's working because both Windows' game controller setup and Mala's own "check" option show button #12 lighting up when I press the joystick up. So I know that the joystick and the GPWiz49 are working.
However, for some reason, I can't get it to scroll up in the Mala game list. I went into Mala > ‘options’ >‘controllers’ > joystick and set it up so button 12 is "1 Up" but it won't actually move it up the list. I set up all the other directions as well and they work just fine, just not "up"
EDIT: With more testing, I can't get "button 12" to control anything in Mala. If I set "1 Down" to be controlled by "button 12", then I can't go "1 down". If I set "Letter Up" to be controlled y "button 12" then I can't go "Letter Up" at all. I don't understand, since Mala definitely recognizes when "button 12" is being pressed (I can see it light-up under the "check" tab when I push the joystick up) but it doesn't seem to be able to make Mala actually do anything.
Anybody know why this might be?
