Screen burn = throw away?
« on: December 06, 2006, 03:32:54 pm »
Hey all,

I'm getting ready to pull an arcade monitor out of a cab that I am refitting with a dedicated xbox system.

The monitor has some light pac man screen burn.  I'm going to offer it up for free, but didn't know if it is useful to anyone.  In fact, I'm not even sure it will work at all.  I haven't ever messed with monitors.

So - do you think it will be useful to someone for parts, etc - or should it just hit the dumpster?

Often they're worth parts to fix other monitors, or to fix to use.

What kind of monitor is it?

I'll check this weekend and let you all know what type of monitor it is.  Then we can figure out who could use parts and get it to you guys.

Since you (FrizzleFriend and Peale) are first to respond I'll give you first dibs.

If it is an Electrohome G07 chassis or a PowerMax/Eygo G07 replacement chassis (take pix)...I can really use some parts from it...

Haven't forgotten you Frizzle.
Just the whole Christmas running around like a crazy man thing.  I'll probably get some time to pull the monitor and take some pics after the holidays.

Quite often you can purchase a new, compatible tube....though the price may be high and make it not worth it.  You'd have to look it up to see though.  Who knows, you might get lucky.

If FrizzleFried does not want anything off of it, or you have had no other takers, I would be interested.  Even if its just a chassis (of course if its not what FrizzleFried is looking for!) I can use it.

For some odd reason I tended to have messed with monitors more than anything else.  Have some parts lying around including several tubes of different types minus a chassis here and there.

I would actually be seriously interested in the entire thing.  Minor pac burn in or not.  I find a lot of time if the monitor is behind some smoked plex it is not even noticeable.

Believe it or not I am more interested in the YOKE than anything else.  I did have a need for a chassis,  but I actually have an extra one now.  I could use the YOKE and the purity rings for sure...I have a chassis and a tube but my yoke is damaged.

Light screen burns a not a real issue IMHO, they are not visible when playing the game.

Throwing away is only the very last option....
