Horizontal width coil adjustment?
« on: December 03, 2006, 11:55:29 pm »
1st question: I was wondering if someone knew where to get a horizontal width coil adjustment tool?

2nd question:  I have WG K7000 that I need to adjust the width on.  I was wondering if anyone had any advice when it comes to adjusting the width coil?  Do I have to worry about applying too much pressure and breaking the ferrite core on the coil.  Is there anything to look out for?

The easiest place to find a tool is over at Radio Shack.  They come in a set of 3 or 5 (i believe).  The 3-tool set contains the tool you are looking for...

when you get your PLASTIC trimming tool insert it in the width coil and turn which ever way you require to get your picture the correct size using a mirror to see what you are doing
you will not break the ferrite core with the correct tool

Thanks for the link Ken.  I wish I would have read it sooner because
I tried adjusting the darn thing and it wouldn't budge.  I ended up busting the end off of the tool.    I'll have another go at it using the info off of that site.

Remember that sometimes the monitor manufacturer will glue the width coil adjustment in place at the time of manufacture. Sometimes you can soften the glue with the heat from a hair dryer enough to allow you to turn the coil slug. If not then you need to order a replacement width coil. The replacements are not glued and have no need to be glued.
