Advancemame with a PC monitor need help, install guide?
« on: December 03, 2006, 10:34:27 pm »
Hello all:

I stumbled across advanceMame. No scanlines in teh latest version of Mame has made me look for options; hence advancemame. It Looks great, seems as If I can really tweak teh way in which it is presented on my monitor. Problem is, there are no really good manuals or tutorials about how to set it up. It also seems to be prevalent for Linux users. That is ok I know linux, but I am not running linux on my arcade cab.

Is there a really good windows advancemame tutorial? How to set it up? I feel if I can get it to run I will be able to tweak teh final settings in the UI. I ran the batch files that come with advancemame and some things work, etc... I am not sure what needs to be set, configured,...

Also, I am trying to determine teh clock informatin of my monitor. I don't have teh manual. I get teh following info:

There is some older info here: http://easymamecab.mameworld.net/html/advadv.htm

From the supported modes of your monitor it looks like a pretty standard PC multisync monitor, IIRC there are genereic settings in advancemame for a PC multisync.

Advancemame takes some setting up effort, only works (well) with a handful of (old) video cards in Windows - and is all about generating exact native video modes for use on arcade monitors. So I am not sure of the benefit of running it on a PC monitor like yours... What features can it do that you like that normal mame can not (seeing as you will be running it at 640x480 or higher)...??
