Whats the Best way To Remove the Back monitor panel?
« on: November 28, 2006, 10:42:33 am »
Anyone have any good tips on Getting the monitor pannel off of an old Cabinet (without damaging it). The cab in question has 12 finishing nails alone the sides, and it is also glued.

I was thining about takeing a saw down each side, and then replacing the side block and nailing it back in when I am done, But It seems kinda extreme, not to mention I might need to Open it again in the near future.

any Comments would be a god send,

Thanks,
Chris

a photo of your cab would help,it might be worth removing the whole monitor from the front of the cab and then cut a door into the rear, trouble is you may have to reinforce the top and sides with some 2"x1" wood strips.
if you used a jigsaw you could cut a good size hole then fix some wood across the top and bottom of the hole and then you could screw the cut out piece back in,that means any time you need to get to the monitor you just unscrew that panel

use a mini flat bar that home depot sells for $3, it will allow you to get under the nails and remove them. You can always patch the holes with putty after if you dig too deep. Then see if it loosens up the glue , try wiggling it back and forth easily. If it does not move then tap it with the end of a hammer to loosen it up from the inside, I did say tap it. If that doesnt work then depending on its access you may need to cut it.
