Wells 4600 screen is black...
« on: November 27, 2006, 06:15:33 pm »
I'm not sure how much time I will spend with this.  I got an old Galaga cabinet that did not function.... I got the PCBs up and running... but the monitor is not.  It looks like it has been re-capped at least once in its life, but who knows when.

Basically... when power is applied, the screen has a spark of life, but no picture (basically black)... When power is removed... I see a spec of light for a brief moment in the center of the screen... then nothing...

Thanks for suggestions

Same basic questions apply:

1) did you turn up the screen control?  If so, do you get a raster?

2) have you measured any voltages on the chassis?

3) have you tried any of the controls at all?

A common problem is the "Black Level" (brightness) control on the video interface card is bad (has an internal hairline break in the carbon). Try adjusting it anyway.

Yeah... jumped on this forum too quick... I am a monitor idiot...  I'm going to have to fire it up again and be methodical about it.
BTW, I do get a raster

It seems that brightness does work somewhat...

Anyway, when I get the time I will pick it back up, and go through it step by step.

Thanks for the help guys!
