attn: Minwah: mamewah 1.62b10 question/problem
« on: November 26, 2006, 03:09:15 pm »
I'm having a problem with vertical layouts with mamewah v1.62.  I'm using b10, but it seems to be happening on all version 1.62.

The artwork seems to be 'squished'.  Here are two examples, the first a landscape layout, the second a portrait.  Note the marquee, cabinet, and although you can't see it very well, video are all 'squished' on the portrait attachment.

the keep_image_aspect is set to one for both of these.  If I look at the layouts in the layout editor, the images all seem to be set to be the same size as the 'boxes'.

Any help (Minwah) much appreciated.  Thanks much.  Mike.

...in mamewah.ini there is an option called "keep_image_aspect" that is set to 1 by default.   You switch that to 1 then all artwork will be stretched to the size you set up in your layout.

This,  however,  will stretch NEO-GEO marquees out of proportion, etc.

Thanks, FrizzleFried.  I actually know this; as I said, keep_image_aspect is set to 1 for both the vertical and horizontal layouts.

The problem is that for the vertical one, the image aspect is NOT kept when the field is 1, the images are squished.

Thanks, Mike.

That is what I meant...turn it OFF as when you switch to vertical,  it screws the aspect ratio up.   Turn it off and it will stretch to the size of the box you set up in the layout program,  thereby stretching to the correct aspect ratio for most games (with a little trial and error).

Is this an error in Mamewah?  I really don't want to switch it off, because, as you said, it stretches things out of proportion for many marquees/cabinets/etc.

Is this an error in Mamewah?

It must be...I think this has been mentioned to me before.  I thought I had sorted this a long time ago but looks like I need to look at it.  As I don't have a vertical screen this has had minimal testing from me...
