Watch out Orlando - here I come
« on: November 15, 2006, 05:16:46 am »
Yep that's right.  I'll be touching down in Orlando this Friday at about 5pm.  My first visit to the USA.  Staying somewhere in the city 3 nights.  Got tickets to see Orlando play Charlotte which I'm really looking forward to - have always wanted to go to an NBA game.  Will also be going to 1 or 2 of the theme parks, some sight seeing, some drinking and eating and having a good ol' time.  I've been told I need to head down the City Walk at least one night for drinking and partying.  Any must see places you guys have visited?

Cheers

If you're an arcade fan, Disney Quest at Downtown Disney is a must see.  4 floors of hardcore freeplay arcade for one entrance fee.

If you're going to do 1 or 2 theme parks, I suggest starting with Islands of Adventure.  I just did most of them a few weeks ago and that one was by far the best we saw.

Islands of Adventure never exhisted when I went there. My favorite park was Universal Studios Orlando.

It's only a few years old... on the other side of CityWalk from Universal.  You can get tickets that get you into both parks.  Islands of Adventure is much bigger, has more to do, and most of the best rides I went on were there.

For the best shows, hands down, Disney has them.  Fantasmic at at MGM is incredible and Disney's Electrical Parade at the Magic Kingdom is pretty cool too.  MGM also has Lights Motors Action and Beauty and the Beast which are cool.  The rides at MGM are pretty dated, though, so if you are going there make sure to get good seats for those two shows.

Wow, Disney's still doing the Parade? I remember that thing from when I went there when I was about 7-was an awesome show even then, I can't imagine how much better it's gotten with the advances in technology since then.

I live in Florida and i enjoyed going to Busch Gardens, i had a great time riding every roller coaster the park had to offer.

They really have some great new coasters to get your blood pumping, they were pretty much as good as it gets short of skydiving.
