Trouble getting my footing with what I want artwise
« on: November 14, 2006, 01:36:17 pm »
I've bought this cabinet:

I'm chopping it into a MAME cabinet, dnd I am having some trouble visualizing what I'd like for some artwork.

Any character from any game is out, I don't want the cabinet to seem biased.

So without any games for inspiration I'm not left with much.  I enjoy dark with contrasting bright or "neon" colors.  Any suggestions?

Is the cabinet going to have a theme? Like, is it going to be basically a fighter cab, classics cab, or an all in one? Do you want it to stand out, or blend in? I guess dark with contrasting neon colors doesn't exactly "blend in," unless you live in Vegas.

No, it definitally won't fit in.  I'm a very dark/techno type person, and I want it to standout like a soer thumb when turned on.  Also, this cabinet will be my all-in-one, everything from Dig-Dug to Street Fighter Alpha.

I'm just not sure where to start.

I'm having the same problem. I even have a concept. I just have no way to turn my concept into something concrete.

Perhaps a jukebox theme?  With the bubbled lighting and everything?

I was wondering if anyone had an outline of every decoratable surface of a cabinet to do concept doodling with.

This might help me decide.
