I started to decase a Toshiba for use in my vertical cab. It has a compenent input, and I was disappointed to learn it had a neck that extended clear to the back of the TV case and had a huge and flimsy circuit board attached. Also that the base of the case had molded in slots for the other boards. It seemed like if I de-cased, I'd have to basically leave everything oriented exactly as it was in the case anyway. The leads to the boards were very short, etc.
Different TV's could be totally different inside, but here's a peek for you anyway!
Its hard to tell from the angle of the pic, but that neck board sticks out past the input board about 6 inches.

I probably would have had to figure out how to decase it for a horizontal cab due to the speaker position. Since I mounted this TV vertically, the extra 6" of space I would have saved on the sides didn't matter.
