Problem with Shelling MAMEWAH
« on: November 03, 2006, 02:16:29 am »
OK...I am using MAMEWAH 1.62B with a .109 MAME.   I finally decided to shell MAMEWAH.  Now that it shells to MAMEWAH,  it loads up nicely.  The front end comes up.  NICE!  Games work...GREAT.

Time to exit.

Even though I set the RUNAPP_COMMANDLINE in mamewah.ini to c:\windows\explorer.exe,  that is all that comes up.  Explorer.  No desktop.  No taskbar.  Just explorer.  Whats worse,  is that when i double click on MAMEWAH to get back in it just sits there...task manager shows mamewah running but not responding.

I thought that when you ran explorer when exiting your shelled front end,  it loaded up the desktop and such?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

UPDATE:  I rectified that problem.  Evidently the automatic SHELLER that is floating around does not change one of the registry keys from SYS to USR.  As soon as I did that,  the desktop started to appear...

...however...

...I have 2 nagging problems.  The first is that I can not get POWERSTRIP to load before MAMEWAH.  Per a suggestion,  I put entered powerstrip's path in MAMEWAH's START APP field...and it indeed starts powerstrip...but it appears that the logic in mamewah calls for whatever is loaded to SHUTDOWN before it continues.  So i sit in limbo until I shutdown powerstrip then mamewah happily continues.   I need to figure out how to get powerstrip to either load BEFORE mamewah or right after mamewah.

The 2nd nagging problem is now when mamewah loads,  the initial screenshot and it's fellow "movie" file do not load.  That window remains gray until I move switch to a different game at which time it loads the screenshot and then "movie" without issue...any idea how to rectify that situation?

UPDATE: OK...I have been digging around and I found that if I add the tag {nowait} after c:\program files\powerstrip\pstrip.exe then it will load powerstrip and continue with MAMEWAH...

HOWEVER...

(A) now Powerstrip loads,  adjusts the screen (indicating it has loaded),  then the front end LAYOUT pops up for about 1/2 second and then my START intro "movie" starts and then it goes back to MAMEWAH front end.   Is there a way to delay the front end from poping up for that 1/2 second before the intro movie starts running?   This only occures when I load powerstrip as a startup app...without powerstrip the movie plays as is normal then goes to the front end.

(B) I still have the same issue with the snapshot/movie file.  It sits there gray until you change a game then all is normal?!

Finally...can anyone point me to a resource that shows what TAGS can be used in ini files?   I would have had NO CLUE about the {nowait} tag unless I happened to come across a post with Minwah talking about it.
