MAMEWah 1.61 and MAME 0.109 don't play nicely?
« on: November 01, 2006, 07:47:34 pm »
Please forgive any attitude I may have here, but I've spent the last few days ripping my hair out and I think I just NOW realized what's going on...

Working on a new machine here, figured it'd be a good time to get everything up to date, roms, emulators, even good ol' MAMEWah.  After configuring all my other emulators, I left MAME for last, and have been having a hell of a time getting the game list to generate.  After searching and searching and searching, I think I've finally realized that the listxml method for MAME is different and needs a beta version of MAMEWah (1.62) that isn't available on http://mamewah.mameworld.net/downloads.htm where I downloaded the "latest" a few weeks ago.

Am I correct in this?

I also noticed, while configuring everything, that the ini files on http://www.emuchrist.org/cpviewer/downloads.htm weren't exactly matching up with MAMEWah 1.61... which now makes sense.  New version of MAME, new super-secret version of MAMEWah with all new config options as well.

Can someone please explain what the heck is going on?  If I get the new version of MAMEWah from wherever, will I have to redo all of the other emulators that I already have set up?

I actually got it working using xml2info and using the rom_folder_vs_xml2info list generation method and everything seems to work just fine.

Just a quick suggestion for Minwah, and I'm really not trying to be an unappreciative ---tallywhacker--- or anything, but it'd be really nice if you could just throw a quick note up on your site about that issue.  I spent entirely too much time checking paths and other things while saying to myself that it *should* work.  :banghead:

Other than that, MAMEWah is, as the cool kids say, "da bomb".  :applaud:
