Mala layout BG image after conversion?
« on: November 01, 2006, 10:14:42 am »
I've got a little problem that I haven't figured out in my little bit of time working with Mala.  I used the layout converter for a Mamewah layout, and it opens up fine in the Layout editor, but in Mala, the background image is missing.

What am I missing?  I've looked at the .mil, and the jpg is correctly named.

Also, I'm not sure if this is related or not, but every time I open a layout in the layout editor, I get a message saying that the absolute patch is incorrect.  Yet it shows the incorrect one and the newly corrected path, and they are identical??

Thanks for any help!

By default you need to create a folder which holds all layout file eg images. If your layout is called mylayout.mll create a folder 'mylayout' next to the mll file and copy the bg image into this folder.

Or you can disable the use of folders for the layout files on the tab GUI -> Layouts with the option: Use layout names for directory names.

Fast response.  Gotta love that!

Ok, what if the layout is for a gamelist (mame_classic).  I put it in the MAME folder, but I don't think it worked.  Do I need to make a folder for mame_classic ?

That converter works very well but what it does not do is copy over the image files . You have to do that manually.

All files for the layout should be kept in a subfolder of mala with the same name as the layout EXCEPT the .mll file which is kept in the mala directory.

You can do it this way too (not having separate folders)
It works exactly the same except your mala folder can get cluttered I guess
