Any more word on the Nieman 24.8" Tri-syncs?
« on: October 30, 2006, 07:55:58 pm »
I know D_Zoot bought a couple, anyone have any updates on these?

Just exchanged a couple of e-mails with Rick @ Nieman (very responsive and helpful) and I'm curious to see if there is any recent word. I've mentioned before that I'm looking for a good option for a 25" monitor, and while I haven't decided if a tri-sync is worth the extra cost since I'll be running in a vertical orientation it's certainly a pretty good looking deal for anyone who can't stuff a 27" in their cab.

So far they have been very good.  They are both out in route machines and they are on pretty much 24/7, I've had zero problems with them.

I'm still waiting to get my manual/scematic, so I'm a little leary about how support is going to be should a problem come up. But in emails with Rick he has been very prompt in replying and seems very friendly, that's a good sign.

At this point I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Thanks D_Zoot. You're running them med res yeah? Have you had a chance to see them standard res yet?

One runs at med res, the other at high res (VGA).  The VGA game looks super!

I haven't run one at standard res yet, but with the good contrast and colors these monitors seem to display I think they would be good at any res.

Well, I really wanted 800x600 or higher capablitly, but I may not have any options. I can't fit a 27" monitor I don't think (23-5/8" width). I was leaning towards the billabs...1024x768 would have been nice. Too bad all the bigger PC monitors are wide-screen :(

IMHO if anyone is going to cater towards the MAME/hobby community (something not all arcade monitor manufacturers are interested in) then you damn well should advertise it, don't be shy. :)

Got a meeting with my CPA to figure out if I can afford to order a monitor before 2007, and you're at the top of my list still. The option to run my front end at 480x640 plus your customer service is worth the extra money I think.

Thanks again Aurich, you prompted me to post a message in this forum - in search of new distributors for our monitors.

I actualy find the service end of it to be the most fun.
