  • GRRRR!
I am so confused.
I have never worked on a amd PC before
(many intel's ) Maybe I am overt thinking this and the strange # are confusing me but I am just plane lost.
PC
emachine w3052
(was father in laws) storm knocked out power. PC bit the dust.
I have worked on and off this thing for months.
I have it booting up and seems stable.
has this MB
http://www.emachine-upgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socketa/k7mnf-64.shtml

Problem. If I add any video card it will not run stable. (shuts down often)

If I put in the nvideo 2 drivers It will run worse.
best stable running is fresh install of XP Pro. let XP install its own drivers and use only on board systems

I would like svideo on this thing
I have a 3000+ AMD sepron (tm) processor
I think its a micro atx form factor. (has other unused holes for other Mother boards
( I would drill  and bolt in a new MB if needed.
I do not even have to use this case . I could switch it out if I must

I see it its a socket A
but there seems to be 2 types of socket a?
not sure when I find a socket A MB for sale if it will hold my CPU  :dunno

I am downloading the bios and think I will try to flash it. I have only done this once befor on a HP once. That worked out ok. that was maybe 5 years ago

Socket A is socket A (socket 462).  There are revisions that do / don't support the newer cores, but I'd bet that pretty much any motherboard you can find now will support the chip you have.

Newegg has a few mATX socket A boards that would work for ya:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&N=2010200022+1070907493+1075707619&Subcategory=22&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

The biostar board would be the closest match to the FIC board that was in the emachines (same chipset)

Good luck!
