Boxing Bugs spinner settings?
« on: October 25, 2006, 12:14:16 pm »
I'm probably the only person who has even tried to play this game, but on the off-chance that someone else has, what are your spinner settings?  No matter what I do to the settings, the sensitivity is way too high.  Even when turned all the way down, I turn my spinner just enough to move one "spoke" (?) and the arm moves at least half way around.   ???  Seems like it could be a fun game if I could get the control working (and build a sample set, but I'll do that after I get the spinner working right).  Thanks.

I have not only tried boxing bugs, but I have played it many times.  I love vector games.

I am not at home right now, so I can't tell you what my settings are.

However, the standard answer is that spinner settings are fairly unique to every MAME setup.

It depends on the hardware (Optipac, Mouse hack, etc) used, the mouse settings in windows, and finally the settings in MAME.

I'll look at my settings tonight and see if I see anything in particular.
Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

I have a Vortex spinner, optipac, and am running in DOS (so no Windows mouse settings).  This game usually gets overlooked even by vector lovers, it seems.  Maybe it's just a little too weird.  Everybody wants an original Major Havoc or Warrior, but personally,  I would rather have Cosmic Chasm or Boxing Bugs...

DOS drivers can have settings as well.

I love all vector games, with the possible exception of Barrier.  StarHawk is only fun if you have two players.

Warrior and Tailgunner would be the only original arcade machines that I might actually buy.

I got a little busy with other stuff last night and I didn't get a chance to check my settings.

I am using the standard ms serial mouse driver; I'll check to see if its settings can be changed.

I, too, love all vector games, again with the possible exception of Barrier.  No, I'll just say it, Barrier blows.   :lame:  I read somewhere that it was based on the Mattel handheld football game, and I believe it.  Mattel football is more fun, though.

I didn't originally mean to imply that Warrior or MH are overrated, just that some of the more obscure titles don't get the respect they deserve.   I'd glady make room for ANY vector game in my basement.

No hurry on the settings.
