2nd player lag while playing some games
« on: October 19, 2006, 11:00:44 am »
Has anybody ever noticed a lag with their 2 player controls while playing some games?

I've noticed this while playing metal slug and golden axe.

Specifically in metal slug, sometimes the 2nd player is not able to fire as quickly as the first player. That is, there is a lag between button press and player response.

I am using an IPAC2 on a Duron 1.2g with 512mb ram running XP SP2 and mamewah as the FE.

I've disabled all unnecessary services in XP SP2.

Any help?

Thx,

matt

I forgot to add that I'm using a Radeon 9550 w/ 256mb ram and I'm running the latest version of commandline mame.

Hey thanks for the response!

I think I figured it out. I checked the crimp connectors and they all looked fine. So, on a hunch, I replaced the switch on the 2nd player button 1. Wouldn't ya know it. Seems to be working fine now!

Sorry for taking up the time.

Yeah that would have been my second guess.  A lot of people don't realize this, but if there is a faulty switch in your chain it can screw up your grounding, only causing your panel to "half work".
