I have a serious question:

Was that supposed to be funny?

Normally I wouldn't make a post about this, but since we found out last time that you'll keep reposting until people start talking about it, here it is.

For the most part it wasn't funny, just boring.  There were a few parts I chuckled at, but they were few and far between.  One thing I found to be bizarre is how you reviewed the movies without seeing them, or only seeing 20 minutes of them (ok, one guy saw 1 movie, and the other saw 2 of the movies).  That means for the most part your not giving reviews of the movies, just reviews of the trailers to the movies...why would anyone care at all about that?  My time would of been better spent watching the trailers to the 4 movies and making my own decision on them instead of watching you talk about the trailers.

In short, I rate this movie review show 2 thumbs down.  Keep trying and hopefully you'll keep getting better as you go  ;D

edit* just thought I'd add that it may be that you didn't really care about reviewing the movies and were just using them as a topic to be funny about.  Unfortunately it just wasn't very funny, which means my attention is drawn to the reviews since thats all thats left.  If it actually was hilarious, then you could of gotten away with just reviewing the trailers.

Note - I modified my post above, as I get the feeling my sarcasm may have not been coming across fully.  ;)

Also note, I am pulling a koolmoecraig by reviewing his show without even watching it. I just based my review on past threads.  ;D

I unfortunately clicked the link and tried to watch it. Craig I don't want to come off like a ---tallywhacker--- but it's got to be said. That was the worst attempt of two mediocre borderline personality challenged people trying too hard to be funny I have ever seen. Not sure if its a chemistry thing or if you guys were both nervous. Please take this constructive critisism and not as a flame. If this is a new show I hope you get paid very well for it, but it is definitely lacking

Good luck though.....

Well we are definitely mediocre and personality challenged, no borderline about it.  Also, we weren't nervous so it must be the chemistry.

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken borderline personality is a diagnosable personality disorder, like obsessive compulsive personality disorder or bipolar personality disorder.  I don't remember any specifics about it, though.  It's been years since psych 101.

I finally watched it and, frankly, I thought the first half was hilarious.  Then you started arguing about the uninteresting details of your lives and how one or the other wasn't taking your new project seriously enough, and that was just boring.  It's the type of stuff that is funny when you watch it, or when your personal friends watch it, because you all have a personal connection to the material, but everyone else is left scratching their heads.

Also the gimmick doesn't really do it for me.  I don't love the title, but it's memorable at least.  I personally think you ought to come up with something a bit cleverer, but if you keep the expletive, at least ditch the bird.  The flipping the camera off thing just comes off as hackneyed.  And it just looks really dumb.

Here are my suggestions:

1- Stick to reviewing movies.  The Man of the year and Marine reviews were really good.  If you kept that kind of quality up throughout you'd gain an audience.
2- Consider changing the name.
3- Ditch flipping off the camera.  I know that it's a play on the Siskel/Ebert/Roeper thumbs up/down mechanic.  But it's dumb.  It falls completely flat and the only thing worse than not being funny is being unfunny.
4- Don't say "---fudgesicle--- this movie" about every ---smurfy--- movie.  Save it up.  You should be going through whole episodes of ---smurfy--- movies where you don't say it a single time.  "---fudgesicle--- this Movie" should be a privilege reserved for maybe the 10 worst movies of the year.  When you say it after every movie you just numb your audience to it.  Think about it -- you are saying it to be funny . . . but what's funny about a punchline that is always expected?
5- Don't necessarily consider changing the name.  I don't know.  It's kind of growing on me.  But ditch the flipping off thing.  Seriously, it's lame.
6- Get rid of the harp too.  It comes off as canned.

Oh yeah . . . I meant to mention that you also look like Kevin Spacey.  You should learn to do a great impression of him if you haven't already.  I know you do stand-up and seeing you do Kevin Spacey would kill every time.  It's the sort of cheap joke that would piss the other comics off because it wouldn't even have to be very funny and it would always get the audience roaring.

Come to think of it, when you review Kevin Spacey movies in future episodes of ---fudgesicle--- This movie, you should talk about the movie as though you were in it.  You're partner should berate you for making such a lame movie. And considering the quality of recent fare like K-Pax and Life of David Gail and Pay it Forward, you will probably have plenty of opportunities to review Kevin Spacey movies.  But at any other time you shouldn't even mention your likeness to Kevin Spacey.

It wasn't horrible, but definately needs to be tightened.  As shmokes pointed out, you're leaning too heavily on a "catchphrase".  When was the last time you heard someone refer to "Wha'cha talking bout'?" or "Dynomite" as comedic gold?  It will get old fast.

I thought the whole bit where you were arguing about why you won't review horror movies had potential - just needed more dedication from you.  Just seemed like you were "blase" about your disdain for horror.  I dunno - maybe it's just me.

P.S. to guy on the left: lose the cap!  It looks awkward and adds nothing.  It takes a lot away from the supposed "irony" of two "professional movie critics" delving into profane apathy.  Same goes for your "laugh" Craig - I kept thinking you were breaking character but didn't have time for a second take.

Clever, biting, sarcastic commentary on movies has comic potential, but you definately need to farm for some writing assistance.  Just post a few fliers at a local college - you'll get some decent material from people who won't mind working for little to no money in order to "hone their craft".
