Kinko's rant
« on: March 24, 2003, 04:16:41 pm »
What is up with kinko's? I say I need three TIFF's printed, all 26 in wide and 13 inches tall.  I say to print one and laminate it just to see what it looks like as a sample (I asked earlier for samples of different paper and the kid said, "We don't have samples! We just print it out and hand it to the customer! We don't keep samples!")

I stop back earlier today to see the one they printed. The quality was excellent and looked really nice laminated.  However the size was 5 inches too tall and like 10 inches too wide.  WTF?? I know this happened to Snaaake, though not as extreme as his giant vinyl sign/banner :)

The guy (picture  actually sighed when I asked for a ruler, and said, "I was hoping I could get away with that".  What an idiot.  Like I'm going to rebuild my control panels to 36 inches wide and 18 inches tall or something('cause I ain't trimming the artwork).  He started blaming the CD I gave them, and said it should have been on a zip disk.  I said, "You obviously set it up wrong because it read the freaking file from my CD." So we'll see what happens later tonight when I stop back- just had to rant - I know others have had this problem.

The ironic thing is that I just sent Saint an arcade artwork tutorial which focuses on Illustrator, and on the second to last page I say I've had good experiences with Kinko's.  Up to that point I had ;)

yet another kinkos story  :D

Atleast yours wasnt like mine..geez mine was like a carpet :D.

A question, the artwork you printed then laminated.is it worth laminating the artwork so there wont be no scratch?

I mean there was scratchs on my artwork(just marque) and I wish I laminated the thing. :(

snaake - yeah that huge printing of yours was just funny :)

I am actually putting it under lexan, but it looks a lot better laminated under lexan than just regular paper under lexan.  I guess you don't even need lexan if you laminate, but I already cut it and spent the money$$$.

My 26" x 8" marquee was printed at 42" x 13"...TWICE!  A different Kinkos finally got it right on the first try.
