ArcadeOS/ADVMame issues
« on: October 09, 2006, 03:43:41 pm »
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have used the Fraggal boot disc to se up my dos-based cab computer and I am having a hell of a time trying to upgrade to newer versions of ADVMame. The disc includes ADVMame 0.62, and I can upgrade a version or two beyond that, but can not get any of the newer versions to work. Can anyone give me a helping hand with this? What is the newest version of ADVMame you are using with ArcadeOS 2.52?

Thanks,
James

Sory I can't actually help
I have been using a disc called Darren's Setup Cd.........  It is a little diferent as it is not setup to run on an arcade monitor (well i dont think it is) and ther are none of the video config options at startup. otherwise it seems exactly the same.

There is a update mame option  but Im not sure how to do it. i would like to know how exactly it is done.  How have you done it with fraggle?  i know you are stuck but at least you know your stuck.
If it ain't broke give it to me...i'll soon fix that

Basicaly I am just copying the newer versions of AdvanceMAME into the mame directory and then running the ADVCGG.exe program to make sure the config is right for that version of mame.  When I go back into ArcadeOS and try to run a game I get error messages.

Okay, I ran Advancemame from a command prompt and the error I am getting is (for 1943) Error parsing event database for 1942b

So ADVmame isn't even working from the command prompt
So.....I need to fix that problem first. I have googled and searched, but came up dry.

Okay, I think I mostly have this sorted out now. I deleted my etire mame directory and started from scratch. Put a fresh install of ADVMAME 0.96 on, tried to run it, won't process the rom list. Hmmmmmmm. Drop a copy of DosMAME in to the directory with it and volia! it works! So it looks like the problem all along was my ADVMAME installation. Too bad I managed to trash my working ADVMAME.RC file in the process. Take one step forward, take one step back. *lol*
