Vector games sound is stuttering

I am having this problem with my vector games sounding echoy (is that a word?) and stutter. The games with samples, like Asteroids, sound fine. I have tried changing the sound card type to other setting other then

btw, unless you are running a super old version of mame, asteroids does not use samples:)

Hmmm, I haven;t had that problem, and I have about the same system you do.

I think I'm runnin .65 version of advmame. That makes it even stranger then why Asteroids works but non of the other vectors do.

Any ideas? I don't even need an exact fix, I'd be happy with an educated guess!  ;)
