I have had first hand experience with one. I fixed a friends multicade cab. I gotta tell you, I didn't like it much. You are stuck with it's front end and many of the sounds are really bad. Like they are distorted r something. It is pretty to set up, but I think I would rather spend that money on a PC.

Well, I will put it like this. try to find one of these things in action. Play it. (you will see oodles of them at auctions.)
Experience the confusion of getting in and out of games. Before you put out $300 for one of those, just find one to play. Hey if you like it, great! It is a super tiny footprint and Jamma so it is easy to set up and maintain, but blech, No sir...I don't like it.

Search for the thread by "Spacies". He dissected one of those boards (turns out it's just a PC).
NO MORE!!

Correct.

It was a PC. Albeit, a very small one.
It has an intel CPU, a tiny flash disk which would prob hold the OS and a few other things hidden under the black plastic cover.
There is also an Eeprom which I suspect holds the ROM and snaps?
The suppliers would be getting them from the factory, you tell them what games you want and they burn the ROMs onto the Eeprom and send it out because they are available as 4, 9, 39 or 48 in one. I think the Eeprom was 8 or 16mb but I can't remember. Would be fairly simple to delete the Eeprom and install your own roms and snaps.

It also has a VGA out, 3.5mm out for sound, a power supply input the same as your PC.

I have one here and the sound on Bombjack sucks ass. Its one of my fav games too.  :badmood:

If you have the skills, buy a PC and get another 4960 odd games for less money.

The 39 was officially replaced by the 48 some time ago. All the 4, 9 and 39 boards I got from Dave at electronicamuse@aol.com have performed flawlessly for me. Haven't tried the 48 yet though.
