A LOT of creatures freeze either themselves or their eggs and then thaw in the spring.  Insects and amphibians would go extinct in harsh winter places otherwise.

The really cool ones are stuff like brine shrimp.  They lay their eggs in puddles that then dry up.  The eggs stay there indefinitely until more water appears and then the eggs hatch.  It's like Pasta Roni.  They can stay viable dehydrated for years.

They're not....they're enforcing the idea of evolution and environmental pressures, whether these pressures are natural or artificial.  Crossbreeding and hybrid species are just an example OF evolution and natural selection, albeit in this case (if its anything more than marketing BS) the selection is less natural and more manipulated.
