I have a chance to buy this specific Arcade monitor, but I would like to know some details on it. He said the monitor was removed from an arcade simulator and comes with 15 pin VGA cable and video adjustment extender. What is a video adjustment extender??

I want to use it for my MAME cabinet, so the fact that it has a VGA cable is nice. Do this monitor come with that cable, or is it a hacked cable??

My main concern is what type of resoultions will I get from this model?? strictly CGA or will it be SVGA/VGA?? I would like to run Windows resolutions as well as arccade resolutions. Can I assume this monitor runs games at 15hz, or might this be a tri sync. 15/25/31hz??

I should also mention that I do have an ArcadeVGA version 2 card.

He asked me to make him an offer and I don't have a clue what might be a good asking price.What does this monitor go for new???

I can't find any details about this monitor, so any input is greatly appreciated.

It seems as if this is a VGA only monitor. Does this mean it isn't a true arcade monitor???
As it is 31hz, it seems as if I wouldn't be able to run arcade games at their native resolutions.

It seems as if this monitor would not give me a better picture, or a more arcade like picture than the PC monitor I already have. Am I assuming this correctly??

that pretty much is a pc monitor as it runs at 31k,that monitor will run straight off a standard graphics card with a standard svga lead-don't know whether your arcade vga will run that you will have to email the manufacturers

The seller advertised that it is an Arcade Monitor, and was pulled right from a cab. What advatage would I have buying this monitor, other than it would be easier to mount in a cab?? It seems stuid to buy a monitor of this size for $225 when you can get a 15-38khz Wells Garnder for $285 or a 19" PC monitor for a lot less.

It sounds like false advertising to me.

i guess its the size that the seller is refering to when he says "arcade"-i don't think he is mis-selling as they state its 31khz not multi sinc,bet it came from a mame cab(even so many arcade cabs i work on do have a 31khz in them)

if you mean you don't get a old looking crappy pixellated effect then yes,it really is horses for courses on this question,many on this forum are enthusiasts and originality is key to their cabs but for me as a tech the quality of the picture is more important.

i think its really down to you to decide what you want-if you want true arcade quality buy an arcade cab and don't mame it.like i said most new arcade pieces have 31khz or multi sinc in them now-so whats original

I'm confused now lol........I guess what I meant it this. When I use my PC monitor and use MAME the picture is all pixeled and looks pretty bad. I can set it up using Direct3D and will look decent. But it is still not 100%. Meaning If I want it to look like if I were playing it at an arcade somewhere. I know these results are only achieved using an Arcade Monitor, and running at their proper resolutions.

In buying this monitor it seems as if I would get the exact same results, as far as quality of picture, as I described above about the PC monitor. I just want to make sure I am not buying this monitor in hopes of getting an exact picture of how the games were run when I remeber playing them.

I hope I am making sense here.

I should add that I usually play games like Street Fighter series, Mortal Kombat series, NBA Jam series, TMNT, etc. Nothing too old, but believe they still require a 15khz monitor, because they look pretty bad on my PC monitor.

yes i see what your saying,all those games were 15khz i am pretty sure there is software to improve the quality,i have seen posts on this forum discussing this before but i can't remember the cure-best to have a look around the forum,what about the powerstrip faq

I have tried Powerstrip with no success. I couldn't tell the diffrernce. The best results I have found is using MAME Plus. I use no hardware stretch, Direct3D, 25% Scanlines, and Kreed's 2xSal image enhancement.

I'm always looking for ways to improve the quality, so let me know some more suggestions if you can find the post and/or different software.
