Monitor issues with ArcadeVGA, J-Pac and Xp
« on: September 22, 2006, 10:59:21 am »
Hi everyone,
I've got an ArcadeVGA in my PC which is then linked to a J-Pac (which the arcade machine is plugged into.)
I've installed the drivers but something is wrong. The picture quality isn't great, it is 'wavy' in loads of places:

Occasionally the bottom of the screen appears at the top:

MAME games are almost unplayable:

The monitor was fine when I bought it and the bloke plugged a JAMMA game in. What have I done wrong? (I know nothing about any of this!)
Thanks in advance!

Almost looks like a sync issue, have you tried adjusting sync?

With the distortion changing with brightness of the lines its on, it could also be a grounding issue between the vidoe card and the monitor. check that is connected well and that its not trying to rely on the chassis ground for a video ground.

Thanks. I'm totally new to this.
Do you mean check the video card in the PC or the J-Pac connection with the cabinet? Where's it best to put the J-Pac when it's connected?

I'm really grateful for all your advice. How's best to check/alter the sync?

Yeah, one of the ports is connected to the PC's keyboard socket and the other has a keyboard plugged into it.
