I have now cut my Vga cable and also the cable to my monitor to put them together. And of course it cant just be simple, hey red to red and green to green and so on and so forth.

Questions..

1. Inside the VGA cable there is a red wire and a red wire with a white stripe. This is true for Red, Blue and Green. Which one do I use for connecting to the arcade monitor?

2. The 5 Arcade cables wires are colored as follows, Red, Blue, Green, White and Black. Which color is the Horizontal and which is the ground? Or am I way off base.

Thanks all. Hopefully I wont burn my house down doing this!

white is sinc
black is common
look on google for svga pinouts-i think you will find one of the colours of each pair is a common-did you not get instructions with your arcade vga-are you using normal vga card,if so most early arcade monitor won't support this, unless of course the frequency output of the vga card matches the monitor frequency input

So then I should wire the white wire of my VGA to the Wite wire of the Arcade monitor? What about the Black wire from the Vga?

Another super newb question, What does a common wire mean?

I did not get instructions with my Arcade Vga. I am using a normal VGA card and plan to use ArcadeOS to run mame.

I purchased and ATI 8500 Le card but unfortunatly i need to upgrade my Computer becuase it is a bit dated.

what monitor do you have(make and model  number),common is another word for ground(thats the black wire)-i'm no mame expert but unless you monitor is multisinc or your vga card support the monitor frequency then i think you will have a problem(usually 15khz freq monitor require an ARCADE vga card)

It is a wells gardner 7000 series i believe. The original cabinet was a Mortal Kombat 2 machine. That good or bad?

its not a bad thing, but if you connect a svga signal(31khz) onto a 15khz monitor(that is what a wg7000 runs at,depending on exact model number as they made a 25khz model as well) you will blow the horizontal output transistor as it can't handle the frequency-everything i have seen on this forum involving your setup has mentioned an arcade vga card(from ultimarc)-i think its best to look on the forum a bit more or contact one of the mame guys

Well this may also be stupid then.... Can I use powerstrip to change my frequency to 15khz then just to test my cable? Or am I also missing something here too?

Sorry for the newbie stuff guys. I have read alot but have little to no background in woodworking or wiring so I am like the special olympics Mame guy on these boards!
