Problems displaying programs in XP on a TV properly
« on: September 20, 2006, 06:59:05 pm »
I have an ATI X300 video card in my computer and I use the S-video output connected to a TV.  It looks fine.  But when I open certain programs, parts of the window of the program get cut off and I cant scroll within that window to view what is cut off.

For example, Using the Jukebox software, Freebox, when I open the program the right side of the GUI is cut off.  The program is set to run at 800 x 600 and on my TV,  obviously I need 640 x 480 but the area of the GUI that has the options for "Display Full Screen" or "resolution" gets cut off and I cant scroll within the window to see these areas.

Is there a standard setting that I need to check that will help me to display all of a window or let me scroll within it?

Do you have the ATI Control Center software installed? I don't use it, but I seem to remember they had a Virtual Desktop feature, where you could have a desktop larger than your monitor and you used the mouse to scroll around in it. Try turning off that feature, if it's there.

If you have a keyboard, use alt-space, then hit M, and use the arrows to move the window left so you can see what you need.

Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.
