What system is in use?
« on: September 19, 2006, 09:21:03 pm »
Whilst holidaying in spain last week I saw an arcade machine that I swear was running mame it had a really neat menu system that had icons down the left handside of the screen for the different genres and once selecting the genre it would pull up a load of preview videos of the games in action and you could scroll left/ right to each one and then play it.

Anyone know what syatem that this could be running it deffinately wasnt mamewah

It could be GameEx?

- GameEx displays Mame icons next to the game's name
- It has the list of genres on the left (by default but the layout can be changed)
- It can play preview videos of the game in action
- It can be skinned

AFAIK GameEx is the only FE to show MAME icons in the list (besides Mame32).

It could be AtomicFE too.  I know it is lot used in Spain .

Atomic could display mame.ico files too but this feature is not yet accessible from the layout editor.  I don't think a user would do that for his layout as it is not documented.
But may be the icons you see are simply  Png or Jpg image. In that case it could be lot of Front end...
