WTF? Man this guy is full of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---. Why would he sell the HOD2, MGCD, w/ 34" monitor, 2 arcade light guns, the DC, the cab, and all that work for $9.95. The monitor must have at least been $1000. This guy is a scammer man. Don't tell me that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- fell off a truck ;D . Thanx.

well, while i *do* think this guy is FOS, it's definitely not because of the $9.95.. remember, he's not *selling* them for $9.95, that's just his starting bid. on ebay, any starting bid amount over $9.99 costs more $$ for the seller. personally, i always start my bids at a penny.. you know it's gonna sell for more, so you have nothing to lose...

i *don't* like the fact that he only accepts money orders or personal checks.. basically, you have no protection that way.. i wish i were local; i'd offer to pick it up and do an in-person transaction. i may just email him that idea and see what he thinks for the heck of it.. insert rampy *shrug* here. :)

i would also like to see pictures of the *actual* unit - not the generic ones that he has up there...

not to say it *isn't* a scam... but to point out how e-bay works... you can start an auction at any price you want.  Just because it starts at 9.95 (although oddly i don't see a reserve) doesn't mean it'll end there (duh)...

a dutch auctino does seem like a strange choice for the item, and it is a  little suspicious that he hasn't sold any other arcade stuff before.... *shrug*

I dunno, i'm not saying this guy isn't a sleeze... I'm just saying you're jumping to conclusions.

im not sure what to think of this either, he says he is on tennesee, but his measurements are in metric units (cm & kg)

seems extra fishy.

and a feedback rating of 10?!?

my pops always says"if it looks to good ot be true.." and "you get what you pay for, which is usually ripped off"

What, you haven't herd of a NR (no reserve) auction before?? Also, you forgot to notice that shipping is another $105 (which is still suspciously cheap).  BTW: its clearly listed he accepts paypal at the top.  The notice on the bottom is for other forms of payment.

I even went and emailed him and here is response:

Thank You,
This is a Brand New Arcade Game System. The Image represents the actual complete console. The Shooting Game is "House of the Dead 2." These machines are actual made for the Commercial Arcade Game Rooms, because of their expense. The retail cost of this machine is $4800.00. I am doing a test market to find the demand for these machines in a home environment. This machine is covered by a 1 Year factory warranty and a 1 year extended warranty through E-bay. This warranty covers Parts and Labor. Yes, It accepts quarters or can be set for free play. The shipping is for residential & insurance. The actual freight cost is included with the bid. These attachment will explain more on the machine. I hope this help answer your questions and I really appreciate your interest & response. Feel free to call me at (731) 858-2655 or Fax (731) 858-2768.

Sincerely,

Don Hopper

The attachements were specs for two different cabinets (driving and shooting).  They are manufactured in Japan.  Looks like he just cut and pasted the weight and dimensions from this (which explains why its in kg and cm).

Looks legit to me.  I'd expect them to go well over $2K in the last day of bidding.  You caould always just give him a call if it still sounds shady. He even lists his adderss on the ebay page, so you could go out there and kick his ass if its a scam :-).

Welcome to the wonderful world of ebay.  I saw a nearly complete Dreamcast collection of every US game ever released (he was missing 20 games)  all legit gaems, with BBA, tons of extra hardware, get bid up to $1000 before the last day, then went just over $3000 before it closed.  :-(

If you're just looking for the interfaces, www.coinopexpress.com sells them. They sell the MGCD boards without the box (bringing the cost down to $95 last I checked), the dual arcade gun interface, and the arcade streering wheel interface. Last I looked, only the MGCD interface was listed on the site, and you had to talk to a salesman to find prices/info on the rest (easy to do with the integrated web chat).

So the guy sells Wood Floors? I fyou look at his auctions he has lots of different things. My guess is that he works at some type of shipping company or warehouse, and this stuff is just extras, or unclaimed items.
thats my guess.
My old roomates used to work in shipping and recieving for a couple of big computer companies and every day the would come home with all kinds of stuff that were overshipped or whatever. You'd be amazed at the extra stuff that would get shipped. we got a SGI System once. just because someone screwed up counting the boxes.
I'd expect these arcade systems to get close to retail price on Ebay. then again does anyone spend that much on Ebay?

What a lame-ass.  He cancelled the auction claiming that the item was lost or broken.  He had three of them.  And how exactly do you lose something that weighs 500 pounds.

ARRRGH! I really hate the asshats who do this! Seems that EBAY is full of 'em. They list a No Reserve auction and then when the bidding doesnt get high enough, the cancel the item!
Makes me want to create a fake EBAY account and bid all the rest of his items through the roof, then not pay!  ::)

Anyway of reprting this to EBAY?

I mean, its next to impossible to lose 6 full sized arcade machines!

This should get reported to EBAY.  He clearly stated in the response above that he currently has the machines in a warehouse and people can come by and inspect them.  Hmm, that sucks that you can't leave feedback for someone who cancels an acution.

another funny thing happend to me... >:(

This guy bids on my small joystick and reserve price meets and all..AND like before 13 hours of auction end the guy cancels his bid saying "ENTERED WRONG AMOUNT"

I mean how fuking dumb are some people >:( that they enter wrong bid amount and realizes when the auction is ending..I am gonna sell it to anyone else placed a bid on this.

AND as I suspected, the seller with 6 cabinets was sort of a crook or something..I mean WTF !.

Loosing all 6 of the 500lbs arcade cabinets in the mail is way too funny for anyone to believe. :P

Or he took out his Jack hammer and broke all 6 of the cabinets because maybe his wife cheated on him or somethin. :D
I dont know...otherwise why would anyone be REALLY mad and break 6 brand new full size arcade cabinets.

How do you loose cabinet in the mail ???

You guys are taking this all to literally. You do realize that when you cancel an auction you have to choice from a list of checkboxes why your cancelling an auction. Lost or broken is probably the most often selected. Maybe the guy is full of it, maybe he's not. He didn't break any ebay auction rules.

I do agree its dirty to pull an auction because your not going to get enough for it. Unless one of you was the high bidder I don't really see why your all crying. If you were high bidder you'd have a legit complaint. Was anyone here the high bidder?

Its also dirty to bid on an auction and cancell your bid. Thats often done to find out what the reserve is. Personally I don't think it should be allowed. I'm pretty sure there are limits on how many times you can cancel an auction or your bids.

Oh yeah and I don't like reserve auctions. Those make me mad. I say to the sellers quit wasting my time and yours, start the auction at the reserve. I don't know why they ever invented reserve auctions. Well actually I do know why, but I don't like them.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

Actually, it was the 6 highest bidders(he had 3 of each cab listed) who go screwed, unless I dont understand EBAY rules correctly. Also, I had planned on bidding on this item once it got closer to the end(as I am sure alot of people would have done).

The thing that is rotten about all this is he responded to everyones email(including mine, what a waste of MY time) and fronted like he HAD the machines on hand and was ready to let them go for whatever they sold for as a marketing trial. They were SUPPOSED to be brand new. He is breaking EBAY rules by pulling the auction early because this is not the correct reason to pull his auction.
No one can prove it though(unless someone took him up on his offer to inspect them before he cancelled).

Other (hopefully not true) possiblity: he's crooked and was planning to steal the cabs and launder them through ebay.  But the real owner came by and picked up cabs "too early" (before the aution was over).  Thus he "lost" the cabs.  :-\

*shrug*  At least somebody(s) didn't pay for one and not get it.

Or, just as likely, someone locally came around and paid cash for them. I've seen auctions pulled before where the seller has made a deal outside of eBay.

I think he NEVER HAD THEM!! He did say in his email that he was "testing" for a demand. He probably wanted to see how high he would get for them, and if it was more than what he had to pay he would THEN buy them and ship them out to people.

I am certain this guys sucks.  :o

You guys are taking this all to literally.

I think you are taking us too literally.  The whole point is that we know that he didn't break or lose the machines.  That is simply what he told Ebay so that he could pull his auction consequence free.  This is what makes him a lame-ass.
