xbox RGB to Hantarex MTC9110 how?
« on: March 19, 2003, 03:10:16 pm »
Today my arcade cabinet arrived, it's a 'royal video special' with a 25" Hantarex MTC 9110 monitor in it.

I want to hook up an xbox console to this monitor and do some gamepad hacks to get xbox games running on this machine.

The xbox has scart RGB out so i can use the RGB signals to feed to the monitor but the sync signal puzzles me a bit. ???

I've done a lot of reading the last couple of days and it seems that i need a sync splitter to get the sync signal from the composite video. I already found a circuit for this (based on a LM1881 chip).

The monitor is now wired to a jamma connector and since i want to leave the cabinet in original condition as much as possible i want to feed the video directly to this connector (so i don't have to rewire the monitor) via a jamme finger board.

What signal should i use for sync? A jamma print (as i understand) gives a composite sync signal to the monitor.

Can i just feed the composite signal from the LM1881 to the jamma connector? Do i even need the LM1881 at all? Also do i need an amplifier for the RGB signals?

I am afraid of messing around with the monitor (i am not THAT technical and don't want to blow up the monitor, the xbox or myself)

Thanks in advance for your answers (any other tips are also welcomed) :D

edit: a manual for the MTC 9110 can be found at http://www.vernimark.com/arcade/manuali/monitor/mon_rc_mtc9110.pdf

Some arc monitors except composite sync so there's no need for the sync splitter, however mine didn't and i had to build that circuit using the L1881 chip it was quite simple and most suplliers that carry the chip also have the circuit diagram.

I take it you have a x-box scart lead, you only need the pins for R,G,B,GND and sync - the composite sync goes thru the sync splitter and gives you H&V sync out of the chip.

Also i used the +5v from the scart lead
