Wiring Help-Batter to 110v plug?
« on: September 10, 2006, 09:51:02 pm »
Hello,
Hey guys..been searching hi and low for help with this one....just in time for halloween... looking to take battery powered items ie) talking skulls, flying bats etc.. you know things that usually run on 4AA or 2 AA etc.... anyways wondering if there is a way to convert those type of battery items and have powered via standard house hold 110v plug? anyone have a link or info on how to do this? I am not sure and would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Thanks very much,
Jim

you could probably pick up a multi-adapter from radio shack or whatever... the type that has a switch that lets you pick the output voltage.  You'd have to find a way to wire into your devices, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah, you'll want to use a wall-wart (an AC to DC transformer that plugs into the wall) for this.  Snip off the end, bare the wires, and solder them to the battery terminals.

Just make sure you get one that has enough balls to power whatever you have in mind, or you'll cook your wall-wart.
