Final Fantasy XII's Lead Character
« on: September 04, 2006, 12:28:25 am »
I'm a bit concerned about Square's new protagonist in FF XII.  He looks a bit like Peter Pan, and apparently Square has him flashing his chest the entire game.  I'm almost thinking I may NOT buy this game.  See, I hate Peter Pan.  Always have, always will.  Hated the cartoon.  Hated the story.  Hated Peter Pan himself, because he just LOOKS LIKE HE'S GAY.  And Vaan from XII looks to be in the same boat.

Kuja had a similar look in IX, but it didn't bother me so much, as he wasn't showcased that much, and more importantly, we weren't looking at his bare chest all the time that he was on screen.

Squall from VIII had a sorta weird look.  He didn't look gay, he just wore that fur coat thingy, so that didn't bother me.

Vaan's look bothers me...

note:  Please don't look at this post as gay-bashing.  It's not meant to be.

I was more under the impression that Vaan was more like Tidus from X....

They look nothing alike, imo.

I'll probably still get it, eventually.  I just hope I'm overreacting to this.

Does it offend your machismo? Also, never play another king of fighters until they promise to remove Benimaru from all future games. Just ribbing you of course.

Haven't all the male characters in the Final Fantasy series been a little, shall we say, flamboyant?

Good point. Cloud was cool but had those thin arms and girly face (fanboys will kill me).

But you can't argue with the original, theres nothing gay about characters like Black Mage, Fighter, Monk, or Red Mage (he had a feather in his hat! So pimp!)

They should have stopped while they were ahead.

In my eyes?  Not really.  The worst one is Kuja.  He even has girlish body movements and such, but his deviousness offset that, plus his overall conceit.  (Was surprised when Bahamut gave him a small cut.)

IF they remake that, I bet the first things they retool are the arms...for everyone.  They all had that characteristic.

I don't think the others after have an excuse but FF7 was before independant finger animation etc, so it gets away with those sorta silly poligonal arms. At least they didn't deliver square faces, I hate when companies couldn't understand round polygons and gave up.

Forget the metrosexual dude... what is with the girl touching her nose in most of the art?  That some japanese-anime thing I don't understand?
Reality is overrated.

The things where they have their hands folded and against their lips, just under their nose? Thats kind of a way they express embaressment, or in this case - being smitten.

No, like, touching her nose:

Maybe she has a boogie?

I also don't get why, in the game, Vaan is always putting his hands behind his head.
Reality is overrated.

Oh, I've never seen that one. Yes, I think she is minning nose gold in this case.

As for rubbing the back of your head with your hand, thats kind of a way anime guys show embarressed modesty sometimes. Who knows, with this pic you've thrown what I know out the window.

I think he's just acting relaxed like he's stretching or something. It always comes after a successful battle.

I'm enjoying the hell out of FFIII on my DS.  Red Mage, Black Mage, White Mage and Fighter!

LOL the Gender Confusion one is terrible...  :laugh2:

Anyways, yeah the new FF12 main character needs a shirt and a haircut. I agree. My brother had gotten about 70 or 80 into the game (including side quests), and that's something that stills bothers me.

... and the best team is fighter, monk, white mage, black mage (in that order). Don't you know anything?!?! j/k
