??? Basically every time this one loads up mame claims.. :"known problems with this game video emulation not 100%" .. for one can i bypass that warning ? because to me the game seems to play fine especially with Mr. Do's new artwork bezel looks fantastic! Also for whatever reason the hi-score .dat doesn't seem to save my hi-score on this game? am i doing something wrong because it seems to be working for others ? Currently using Mame V 108 and mamewah 1.61 as my front end. Any help to avoid that warning screen and or help me to obtain my hi-score after exit / powering down on galaga would be cool thanks in advance!

You cannot remove that screen with official Mame...it's possible to compile your own build to remove it tho.

I think hiscore.dat support was removed from Mame...I think a nice by-product of a new savegame feature might mean some hi-scores still save.  There have been a few threads about it here lately ;)

The warning is there because there is a video problem, even though it might be not noticible to an average user.  IIRC, the stars in the background is faked, but I might be mixing games or versions.

hiscore.dat has been removed from official mame, and doesn't work for any game.  The games that are saving your high score don't need hiscore.dat but saved it in the arcades so mame does also.

Autosave is the replacement for hiscore, and currently supports about the same number of games (although a different set of games).  According to listxml, galaga supports the savestate, so...

Enable -autosave option, and you'll have your high scores (plus you can exit mame in the middle of a game, and continue it later).

Ok Galaga saved .. However...with adding this in the ini other games now do not .. for instance... Gun.Smoke (which is one of my fav's) i fully understand that  :notworthy: aaron giles and the rest of the gang are looking to more or less faithfully represent each individual machines as accurately as possible .. is there any way to have this feature added as a request? / option. I feel that there should be some unoffical way just like in the previous hi-scores i.e. a recompiled mame.. but id really like to see this feature... in the official release..
:blah:Why not take advantage and make it better than it was in the arcade imo this is not really misrepresenting the games at all rather adding a probably sought after feature.

The reason autosave can replace hiscore.dat is autosave does everything hiscore.dat did plus more.  The real reason autosave is replacing is that hiscore.dat added errors that were incorrectly seen by users as bugs in mame, "bugs" that mameDev could not "fix" (except by removing hiscore).

The removal of hiscore.dat & replaced by savestate has been on the horizon for over a year now.  MameDev gave users and contributors time to implement the savestate in the drivers they want, but not many helped.  There's ways to hack hiscore.dat back in, but you'll have to hack it in each new version :banghead:, and at some point it'll break for whatever game you want.
