I just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

I've just uploaded a new version of my xml2info XSL transform.

It's now an exe file called, what else, xml2info.exe and you can just drop it (and the required xsl file) into your mame directory and use it just like the old xml2info.exe.

Enjoy!...  http://mame.3feetunder.com/xml2info/

It's been brought to my attention that you may need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ runtimes to run this exe since it was compiled with MSVC.

How do you use the listinfo file for mamewah so as to generate the main list and also filtered list?? would it be rom_folder_vs_dat_file ?? How do you use it yourself Minwah.
The reason why l ask is because l can generate a input filtered list eg -spinner or lightgun list. So would this listinfo file work for that in mamewah??

See this post here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=56050.msg561893#msg561893

I slightly modded my latest beta to get Kricks xml2info.bat to work...however there's an alternative (I think you know this):

From a commandline do a 'mame -listxml|xml2info > mame.dat',
In your Mamewah mame.ini file, set 'list_generation_method rom_folder_vs_dat_file'.

Generate the main list and you should have all filters available as normal :)

its not generating filtered list Minwah. l did what you wrote - created a
mame.dat file and changed ini to rom_folder_vs_dat_file.

You need to generate the Main list before you can generate a filtered list...ensure you have the correct list selected*

*a clue is in the menu option...'Generate List' for the main list, or 'Generate Filtered List' for custom lists.

one mistake l did was l had the mame.dat file in my mame folder instead of the mamewah folder , thats why nothing was happening. But l have noticed that with using the dat file under generate filtered list ,only the caterogry filters come up nothing else . is that suppose to happen??

It doesn't matter where your dat file is, as you point to it in your (mamewah) mame.ini file

I don't know what you mean....the DAT file can only be used to generate the main list.

what l mean is- l can generate the main games list , but when l want to generate a filtered list (eg horizontal games ), its only got the option of generating the list with the category filters only , no other type of filters are available on screen when using the dat file. When l use the normal kirks xml2info.exe ,everything works apart form generating the inputs filtered list. thats what l am really after.

I finally wrote a proper exe replacement for xml2info that uses the xsl transform.

I've removed the other download from my site as it's now redundant.

Enjoy!

Another minor update.  I tweaked the XSL and my xml2info.exe now works with any MAME version that outputs XML.  I tested it with 84-108.

Enjoy!...  http://mame.3feetunder.com/xml2info/

Thanks krick, again.

Even though I don't use the old listinfo format, I've used your files to build my own lists.  I've learned more about xslt from your files you posted here and elsewhere than from the "howto" web sites I tried to learn from before. :notworthy:

Agreed.  It is very appreciated.  lronically I'm all xml now even though I was the first to complain, but your add-in means I don't have to worry about releasing the new dk listgen to the public until I am ready.

for the life of me I can't get xml2info work on my PC.  I'm just trying to get Mamewah to read the real titles of the roms instead of the rom filename.  Whatever I try fails except 'rom_folder'.  Anything involving xml2info fails even after putting your new executable in the mame folder.  It gives me "The system cannot execute the specified program." HELP!
